Joanna J. (Stybel) Sobkow

Joanna J. (nee Stybel) Sobkow, age 95, of Wilmington, DE passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

Joanna was born in Poland in October of 1928 to the late Michal Stybel and Katarzyna Szczepauska. After moving to the United States, she was married to her husband, Michael, and together they had a son, Robert Sobkow. Joanna was a devoted wife and mother and in addition to caring for her home and family, she was a talented seamstress. Joanne greatly enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends and taking walks in her neighborhood.

Along with parents, Joanna was preceded in death by her husband, Michael S. Sobkow. She is survived by her son, Robert Sobkow, and his wife Kim, of Wilmington, DE; her step-grandchildren, John and Nicole; her cousin, Adam Wolanski of Rehoboth Beach, DE; and many nieces and nephews in Poland.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Joanna on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 11AM at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Joanna’s name to St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
